Research and Engineering (R & E)
Larus Technologies' research and engineering team has combined our real-world software engineering expertise with our leading research in computational intelligence to develop a number of innovative sensor networking and data fusion solutions for a wide range of markets, including health monitoring, asset tracking, environment monitoring, battle field surveillance, etc. Our R&E Team have successfully completed two NRC-IRAP projects in these areas and continues to conduct research with NRC-IRAP.
Larus Technologies’ Research & Engineering (R&E) team is available to work with commercial clients to enhance their existing applications or products with custom computational intelligence (CI) software components.
The R&E team works closely with the client team to identify innovative CI solutions for current and potential product markets.
Key Projects:
- Computational Intelligence Framework for Mobile Asset Tracking: A tracking system is typically evaluated by many factors, including tracking accuracy, operational cost and transmitting device power consumption. Directly working with a client’s mobile asset tracking system, the Larus R&E team optimized these factors through the use of a Larus CI engine that was trained and developed for real-world deployment.
- Hypertension State Classification using Nexus for Health Monitoring: A multi-source monitoring system must provide data analytic capabilities such as event classification, anomaly detection and state prediction. Directly working with a client’s personal health monitoring system, the Larus R&E team significantly improved these capabilities through the use of a Larus CI engine that was trained to provide real-time actionable intelligence to the interested parties.
Key Academic Collaborations:
Larus works cooperatively with the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department on many projects and is committed to the development of engineering students, providing part-time employment to university and co-op students.
Larus Technologies and University of Ottawa collaborative projects include:
- MESSAGEs: MEdia-Server and Support for Advanced Gaming Environments (ORF and ORION Project lead by Dr. Georganas/Dr. Petriu)
- GEMINI: GEstural Multimodal INteraction for Intelligent networked building environments (NSERC Strategic Project lead by Dr. Petriu)
- Modular Design of Configurable/Reconfigurable systems (NSERC Strategic Project lead by Dr. Bolic/Dr. Groza)
With our extensive software engineering experience and leading–edge research, we can help in all aspects of your sensor networking, data fusion projects from concept development, through to build, test and install.
