March 01, 2008 -- The following SITE researchers were awarded an NSERC strategic project grant: Dr. E. Petriu, Scientific Collaborator at Larus, and N. D. Georganas for their project entitled 'GEMINI: GEstural Multimodal INteraction for Intelligent networked building environments', to the amount of $95,000 per year for two years. Larus Technologies participates on the project as a supporting organization.

Groza for their project entitled 'Modular Design of Configurable/Reconfigurable systems', to the amount of $97,000 per year for two years. Larus Technologies participates on the project as a supporting organization.
University of Ottawa
May 2008 -- Peter Farkas, Hardware Engineer, participated as an instructor with
the University of Ottawa sponsored Mini Enrichments course entitled "Robotics: Intelligent Connection of the Perception to Action." This course is offered to
students in grades 8 to 12 who demonstrated excellent academic
performance, and have an interest robotics. The goal of the course is
to discuss robotics as an intelligent connection of perception to
action, and explain how robots work. The students get to have hands
on experience with a variety of robots in a fun and educational
environment.
IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition
May 25, 2008 -- Larus Technologies proudly supports the IEEE 6th Annual Ottawa Robotics Competition, as the program event Gold Sponsor. The Competition aims at bringing engineering awareness to students in grades 7 and 8 by presenting a fun and instructive approach to problem solving. The event is being held on Sunday May 25th, 2008 at the SITE Building of the University of Ottawa. Dr. Rami Abielmona, VP Research & Engineering at Larus, currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE Ottawa Robotics Competition Committee.
University of Toronto Presentation
May 21, 2008 -- Dr. Rami Abielmona, VP Research & Engineering at Larus, presents "Sensor Networks in Two Keywords: In-Network Processing for Data-Centric Applications" at the University of Toronto. This talk will present current research and development in sensor networking and discuss applications of data fusion being developed at Larus Technologies Corporation.
